Research Interests: Her current research focuses on studying the pathogenic role of TLRs, innate immune cells and heat shock proteins during chronic alcoholic liver disease. She is interested in identifying molecular targets and their specific targeting using nano-formulations as potential therapeutic candidate in alcoholic liver disease management.
Biography: She is working as a postdoctoral researcher at Department of Medicine, University of Massachusetts Medical school, USA. Her current research focuses on identifying molecular targets that plays critical role during alcohol-induced liver inflammation using a combination of primary cell culture and novel knock-out mouse models. She is evaluating the role of TLRs, heat shock proteins, ER chaperones, their inhibitors and nano-formulations as therapeutic targets in alcoholic liver disease. She is also testing anti-inflammatory efficacy of novel polymeric nanosystems specifically targeting liver macrophages. Previously, she worked as a research intern at Meharry Medical College, Nashville, TN, USA. She investigated anti-carcinogenic effects of endothelins and soy peptides in breast cancer. She received my Ph.D. from Department of Immunopathology at PGIMER (India) in December 2014. Her Ph.D. research work focused on evaluating the immunomodulatory potential of recombinant antigens of L. donovani in specific activation of macrophages. She showed that one of the antigens when used as an adjunct to the currently used drugs helped early parasite clearance at suboptimal doses of highly toxic chemotherapeutic drugs using experimental animal model and findings were published in an international journal.
