A Rare Cause of the Pericarditis; Brucella spp.
Abstract:
Brucellosis is a zoonotic infection that is transmitted to humans by contact with the fluids of infected animals or by consuming unpasteurized milk and dairy products. (1) Because it affects many organs and tissues, it presents with a wide range of clinical manifestations and therefore difficulties in diagnosis. Cardiovascular involvement is a rare complication of the disease and has been reported in 1-2% of patients. The most common cardiovascular complication of the disease is endocarditis. Pericarditis is a rare complication. Pericarditis is a complication of endocarditis and rarely seen as isolated pericarditis. (2,3) Our case is a rare case of isolated pericarditis due to brucellosis without endocarditis, associated with cardiac signs and symptoms.
