Are Breast Milk Probiotics Effective in Reducing Infantile Colic? - A Brief Review
Abstract:
Breast milk; It is a natural food with high bioavailability and easy to digest, containing all the liquid, energy and nutrients necessary for optimal growth and development of the newborn. Breast milk is the primary feeding method of the newborn and the most important food source for the newborn. Breast milk has rich oligosaccharide content and immunological factors with its unique and complex microbiological composition. Breast milk is a synbiotic containing a combination of a probiotic (in the form of Bifidobacteria and Lactobacillus) and prebiotics (HMO-human milk oligosaccharide) capable of providing the contents and mucosal development of the intestinal microbiome if taken in sufficient amounts. In addition to contributing physically and mentally to the development of the baby, breast milk is effective in the management or prevention of newborn health problems.
