Biography: Alexandros is currently working as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Agri-Food and Bio-sciences Institute (AFBI) in Belfast, UK.After working in the private and public sector he received a PhD scholarship from the European Commission and in 2015 was awarded a Ph.D. on Food Safety from Queen’s University Belfast. He also holds an M.Sc degree in Food Technology from the University of Reading, UK. He was graduated with Honours from the School of Agricultural Sciences, University of Thessaly, Greece in 2007. He has in depth experience on novel thermal and non-thermal food processing and development of novel detection methods of food borne pathogens. His experience also includes the study of bacterial virulence and the development of novel antimicrobial and anti-virulent strategies. He is also performing research to investigate the composition of animal gut microbiota and how this relates to the presence of bacteria posing a threat to human health. He has published more than 20 scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals, 12 invited book chapters, 1 book and 17 conference publications. Alexandros has obtained funding from private companies and public founding bodies and acts as reviewer for several international peer-reviewed journals.
