Biography: The major focus of the research group headed by Guy Van den Mooter is to innovate in drug delivery, formulation strategies and process technologies to tackle dissolution-limited absorption of poorly water-soluble compounds and to obtain the desired drug release kinetics. The process development and formulation of these systems are studied with the aim to correlate the physical structure of the dosage forms to their (bio)pharmaceutical performance and stability profile, and to correlate formulation and processing parameters to the resulting physical structure. This goal is pursued by combining a wide range of process technologies and solid state characterization techniques. Since 2011, the group is an active member of the Pharmaceutical Solid State Research Cluster (PSSRC, http://www.pssrc.org/), which means that we have access to virtually all processing technologies and solid state analytical techniques.
