Biography: Professor Rafael O. Chaves holds a Master's Degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Santa Catarina/Brazil (2003), PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Pará/Brazil (2015). He is also a medical student in his last year at the Pará State University. He is currently an Adjunct Professor II in the Faculty of Computer Engineering and Telecommunications, Institute of Technology of the Federal University of Pará, as well as a permanent professor of the Postgraduate Program in Surgery and Experimental Research of the Pará State University. He accumulates experience in Software Engineering, especially in software processing and database. Since 2015, he has been dedicated to research in computer science applied to medicine, working on the following areas: gestural capture interface for virtual 3D simulation of minimally invasive surgeries, telemedicine, simulation of human organ systems through System Dynamics, non-invasive low cost exams, Apps for monitoring and adherence to treatment of patients with chronic renal failure, and games for medical education. Among the activities that relate with this application of computer science in medicine, he has already guided 5 undergraduate thesis; he is guiding 4 Master's programs projects and conclusion of a master's degree coordination. He is currently coordinating 4 research, also he has been a reviewer of the International Journal of Medical Informatics and editor of Pará Research Medical Journal. Nowadays, he has been especially dedicated to writing and publishing articles in renowned journals of high impact factor in the areas of electrical engineering, computer science and medicine.
